The metal ends with Mayhem and starts with San Fran
I’m having a resurgent thrash metal and hardcore period at the moment, but i realise there’s an outer boundary I cannot appreciate. The UV of the spectrum of music I simply can’t process, those who know me know I have a taste for everything, including country. And cocaine K-pop. clownstep…doomcore…neurofunk…mountain goat tribe chants.
Alas! The beauty behind Mayhem are like bluebells which are invisible to me because they are UV coloured. Is that the point, completely?
Mayhem [norwegian black metal] is a morsel too dark and deathly for me. I’m not being literary either,as there have been a string of murders and deaths associated with the band. Music is my religion, but it shouldn’t be that way! I shudder a tad.
Lying safely within this newly discovered boundary are notable bands such as
Slayer [Californian thrash metal]
Anthrax [NYC thrash metal]
Megadeth [Californian thrash metal]
Metallica [Californian heavy metal]
Dream Theatre [American progressive metal from NYC]
The Dillinger Escape Plan [American mathcore from New Jersey, NY], brainchild of Mike Patton of FNM. pure freakin genius.
A trip to Cali is overdue.
