Conclusions on the retention of section 377a in Singapore

Posted by: superjupiter on: November 22, 2007

In october 2007 there had been a campaign to repeal section 377a of the penal code, which was introduced in 1938 to criminalise ‘gross indecency’ between men.

After an extensive refinement of the penal code, the parliament decided to retain the section, albeit not actively enforcing it.

Singaporean prime minister Lee Hsien Loong states the PAP’s view here, in a lovely pink shirt.
